    You couldn’t find him.

By the Seven, you couldn’t find him.

You make your way through the burned forest, tripping over helmets and chainmail as you search through the bodies. You sobbed, trying to find anything that would tell you if he was even here. If his body was one of the charred remains you keep accidentally stepping on.

“Jacaerys!” You scream out, your voice echoing through the trees. Even with the glowing embers of half burnt trees, it was still too dark to see. “Jacaerys, please!”

Your new dress is in tatters. You were so excited when it got delivered, putting it on immediately. The dark blue silk was so soft against your skin, but now the fabric is irritating you.

You had just put it on when Aemond, riding on Vhagar, attacked again, sneaking up under the cover of darkness. You didn’t even see Jacaerys before he was running out of the castle, heading down into the depths to get onto Vermax.

You watched from your window as Vhagar burned down the trees, destroying everything. You watched as Vermax approached, and you watched as they fought. The fire illuminated your face, even from so far away.

You didn’t see Vermax fall, but you didn’t see him fly away. You didn’t know where your husband was.

“Jacaerys!” You call out again, your voice straining. “JACAERYS!”

You trip over a body, falling down onto the dirt. You slice your hand on a dropped sword as you try to brace yourself.

You sit up. You had stepped right through someone’s skull, tripping on their helmet.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry…” You mumble to the body, as if they could hear you. You shakily stand, stumbling through the forest. “Jacaerys!”

And in the distance, you hear your name being screamed back.
