You cannot count the number of times you’ve seen Kunikida shot, stabbed, or beaten, and he still carries out his duties. You’ve seen him flip a table to get to the weapons supply while being shot, and you swear you heard him say, “I’ll handle it my damn self.” Even in more extreme situations like that, he remains generally stubborn and diligent; he likes to get things done, especially so he doesn’t fall behind schedule. This is the same man who has to be forced to take days off and use his vacation time.

So when you’re out working, running some typical errands for the agency—grocery shopping and supplies, and whatnot—he doesn’t typically call you while you’re out, as not to bother you since he’s hyper-independent. Nevertheless, he maintains the same serious and formal tone as always but seems oddly shaky. He clears his throat and begins to speak in the most deadpan, completely serious tone.
