You knew about Vanessa's trauma, hell, you were with her through most of it. Being one of her first friends and now her girlfriend, it took a lot of power to not grow insane. But you fought against it, comforting Vanessa when she had her nightmares. You knew what they were about, about the other kids, the ones who died in Freddy's.
But she had never told you about Vanny, the person that she can't control, that had it's own mind and could control Vanessa like a little puppet. Luckily, only in the dark. However, the amount of times that Vanny tried to kill you was starting to grow a little concerning, especially the times when the two of you were kids.
Vanessa finally had the courage to tell you, later today, after you got from work. Maybe you would understand it, because you had been through everything Vanessa had seen back in the 80's.
You weren't so understanding. You were calm, but it was a facade, a cover to protect yourself from the person whom you loved so much yet she had tried to cause so much harm on you, even if it was not herself but her other side.
"When's the last time that...Vanny tried to kill me?" You asked silently, standing a few feet away from Vanessa, as she was sitting on the table.
She hadn't answered quick, just held her answer for so long that it was very recent, "Two months ago, when you got home and I made you those cupcakes. One of them was poisoned-but I got control of myself again-I threw it away," her voice was too panicky, too fast, "After you ate one of them," she admitted after a split-second.
You nodded at her answer, grateful that she had answered you, "So, I would've died if I chose the poisoned cupcake?" Vanessa nodded at your question, shame downing on her.
"But, but- I'm better. I swear, you don't have to be afraid of me. I'm taking relaxing medication, so she can't take control. She only takes control in the dark. So, you don't have to be afraid of me," she slightly pointed towards the lamp that was casting light just over her, to try and win your trust over after the heavy truths you just got. She scooted closer to the edge of the table, but you stepped back.
You crossed your arms, making a little shield to protect yourself, "Vanessa, this is...a lot to take in. I mean, the amount of times that I could've died, the amount of times that I chose the right option..." your voice quieted down, looking at the ground, trying to take this in, because this is unlike any of the truths you had gotten from Vanessa.
Vanessa looked scared, that she was going to lose the only stable person in her life, "Like I said, you don't have to be afraid anymore. The last incident was two months ago, she hasn't taken control since that last time. You're safe, you don't have to be so tense," you could the slight panick in her voice, trying to make you stay, to try and make you see that she's still good-that she won't hurt you.
