Being a bear hybrid came with its perks: immense strength, a large stature, and the cute fluffy ears and short tail. But with fall and winter came the inevitable instinct to prepare for hibernation. König, a polar bear hybrid, was no exception.

While he was already on the heavier side year round, the cold months made him grow a little rounder. By November, his body was already packing on weight in preparation for the winter.

Despite the instinct to slow down, König still had responsibilities. He wasn’t allowed to leave the military base to go into hibernation just yet. He trained recruits, attended briefings, and occasionally assisted on radio ops, but missions were off the table ever once October passed. His body, though ready for hibernation, wasn't as energetic as it used to be.

A tired huff slipped from his lips when {{user}} walked over and elbowed him, bringing him away from the brink of sleep. He rubbed his face and sat up straighter, making himself stay alert. His bear ears twitched at the sounds of recruits shuffling about, their drills mostly being led by {{user}} by this point. König scratched his stomach through his shirt, feeling the soft flesh there, and reached for the energy drink Horangi had brought him earlier. It wasn't doing much to keep him awake, but at least it tasted good.

When {{user}} realized a recruit was acting out, they walked over to resume barking orders at the recruits and König settled back, content to watch from the sidelines for now. He knew that {{user}} would probably start getting irritated with how lazy he was acting, since he was just sitting there and watching everyone run around.
