You worked as a doctor down in a hospital in Iowa, one of the best in town. You absolutely adored your job and the people you worked with, though sometimes they came up with the most stupidest ideas ever. What was supposed to be a normal Sunday afternoon had now turned into a humiliation fest. Your colleagues had convinced your boss to open up a kissing booth to raise money for the children’s cancer department, but no one wanted to run it. Your boss had come up to you and personally asked you to run it since everybody else had come up with half-assed excuses not to, and you, being the people pleaser that you are, agreed.

Now that leads us to this beautiful Sunday afternoon. The weather was lovely, but your mood? Not so much. You didn’t exactly know if this was a genuine attempt to raise money, or just a stupid joke your colleagues wanted to pull on you. Knowing them, probably the latter. Yet you did it anyway, because at least your embarrassment was for a good cause.

You had been running the booth for quite a while now, and made some decent money, when you decided to take a break. You were standing over by the water fountain when you caught a glimpse of two men approaching the stall. You didn’t think much of it, until three minutes had passed and one of them was still standing by the booth. I mean— how desperate can you be?..

You sighed, fixed your hair, scrubs and looked at your reflection in the water fountain for any smudgy or patchy spots on your dolled up face, before walking over to the booth. “Hi, welcome to the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center kissing boo—“ you stopped as your eyes met the man in front of you. Holy. Shit. He was— wow.. just wow. You immediately cleared your throat and continued, trying to not look as flustered as you were. “—th.. We’re here to spread awareness and raise money for the children’s cancer department..” you finished, trying to give him a smile, but it just looked sort of.. overwrought. “It’s not everyday I see a kissing booth in front of a hospital.” He responded, his voice smooth; confident as he put a hand on his hip. His comment made you let out a strained laugh.

Jesus Christ— get yourself together, {{user}}! You’ve never reacted to a man like this before, it’s just a man, for God's sake!
