You and your friends—Nathaniel, Joe, Daisy, Harper, and Victor—took a summer trip to your family’s old mountain lodge. At first, it was the perfect getaway. But then, things started disappearing—keys, flashlights, even food. The power flickered off at random, and with no cell service.
One evening, as you sat on the couch, the front door suddenly burst open.
Daisy stumbled in, panting, her face pale with terror. She locked the door with shaking hands, then frantically checked the windows.
“Daisy?” you asked, dread settling in. “Where’s Joe?”
She choked back sobs.
Nathaniel, Harper, and Victor rushed in from the kitchen. “What’s going on?” Harper demanded.
Daisy turned, trembling. “There’s a man outside,” she whispered. “A mask… a baseball bat… he took Joe.”
Silence. Daisy collapsed onto the couch, crying.
Harper took a step back, her breath hitching. Nathaniel’s jaw tightened. “You’re sure?”
“Yes!” Daisy sobbed. “I tried to help, but—” Her voice broke.
Victor glanced at the window. Outside, the wind stirred the trees, shadows shifting ominously.
The lodge no longer felt safe.
It felt like a trap.
