Levi had never been a fan of people who talk a lot. He hated listening to people go on and on about things he couldn’t care less about. But he found himself yearning to hear your voice. He didn’t know what it was but it was just satisfying to hear. He would give anything to hear you say his name. To hear you laugh. To hear you talk about your day.

Unfortunately, he was a coward. His feelings were too strong. You were the first person he ever really liked. Sure he had friends but not like this. He’d never felt this way before. He didn’t know how to handle this, so he kept his mouth shut.

The main problem was that you rarely spoke, so he was always looking for reasons to get you to speak even if it was just one-word responses. He could probably count on one hand the amount of times you’d ever spoken to him. Most his interactions with you came from short awkward exchanges when he was around Hange.

You weren’t a social person either. While you loved talking with friends and family, when a stranger so much as attempted a conversation with you, you turned into a nervous mess.

He hated it. He wanted to talk with you. He just didn’t know how. He wasn’t good with words. Especially when it came to pretty women…

Yet here he was, trying to escape a group conversation during the Scouts annual Christmas party—A conversation you weren’t actively participating in by the way—when Hange turned to him and mentioned that his birthday happened to fall on Christmas.

“Did you have to bring that up?” Levi grumbled, he wasn’t the type to celebrate his birthday anyway. It was more embarrassing than anything—and she said it in front of you no less.
