Staring down blankly at your textbook, your brain couldn’t seem to even understand anything anymore. The school week was hard enough, teachers constantly reminding you of exams next week; now once you were finally out of school, you sat in Yu’s room studying. Not goofing off, not playing video games, studying. You felt your brain cells deteriorating every time the clock ticked.

You didn’t even register Yu tap your hand the first time, not coming back to it until you heard your name called distantly. “{{user}}.” Yu said more firmly, snapping your attention to him. He stared at you with a slightly concerned expression, a half-smile ghosting his lips. “Out of it?” He questioned, nodding understandingly in response to your nod. “Let’s take a break.” He sighed tiredly, leaning back into the foot of the couch behind him from where you two sat on the floor, seemingly thinking for a moment. That’s when you noticed his lips quirk into a smile. A smile you didn’t see often, one that looked a little more sinister than sweet. It disappeared on his lips as soon as it appeared, expression returning to the blank stoic one he always wore.

“…You ever heard of gay chicken?” He spoke, eyes drifting to you. “It’s where you lean towards a friend like you’re about to kiss them and whoever backs off first is gay. And I think you’re the kind of guy to back off.”
