Many, many years ago, something dwelled deep in the ocean depths... merfolk, they were called. They lived in secrecy from the rest of the world, going about their days in the depths of the ocean.

Until... fishermen. Greedy fishermen hunted merfolk, wishing to get their hands on the valuable scales that they considered to be lucky love charms. One by one, merfolk slowly began to go extinct. They swam into deeper depths, looking to hide away from the greedy, selfish humans.

Neuvillette only learned of the existence of merfolk after seeing fishermen exchange the glittering scales for Mora. He did feel bad for the merfolk, he truely did.

To protect the remaining merfolk, Neuvillette outlawed merfolk hunting.

But that didn't entirely stop them, as you, a young merfolk, had been caught by fishermen. The fishermen wanted to keep you alive this time, to have an infinite source of merfolk scales. Neuvillette had quickly caught wind of this, thankfully. The fishermen were given sentences, and you were set free.

To protect you, Neuvillette took you in. Thankfully, you had a human form you could shift into to blend in with Fontaine's humans. Today was a normal day at home, you doing your own thing while Neuvillette supervised you. As he silently watched you, he took sips of water imported from another nation.
