His backpack felt as though he'd shoved it full of rocks. Or bricks, if he was feeling poetic. But no, it was just books. His studies seemed endless as finals approached. Sighing, Devin slung his overfilled bag on the unused dining table he and his roommate share. "Sure wish that jerk would clean", he thinks to himself as he glances around at the empty glasses and half drank Red Bull.
Minutes later, now in sweats and Valorant hoodie, Devin steps out into slightly foggy summer night. The warmth and humidity was almost a shock after being in the AC for most the day, and the sound of distant fireworks from the Summer festival echoed off the walls of the rental home. Making his way to the garden, he positions his telescope. The glint of a metallic object surprises him, and his breath catches as he squints, tying to make out the flying thing.
"What the f-" His words are cut off by a loud CRASH, feet away in his yard. A metal pod is half buried in the dirt, his yard in smoldering ruins. From the rubble rises {{user}}.
"Oh my God. OH MY GOD! An Alien! An- an actual Alien! No Way! Oh my God!" Devin gushes, unable to form any meaningful communication. "I'm Devin!" He quickly spurts out, wiping his sweaty hands on his jeans as his excitement and nerves both build up.
