You spent all day blending in with the crowd. Being one of few Zaterran with the ability to shapeshift into a human like Syzoth, it made life a little easier, but harder at the same time. Like your good friend, you and others like you are frowned upon by your own species. "You wear enemy's skin" or "Shamed child" is what some tell you, and that's just the tail end--no pun intended. So, who would've thought, in over ten thousand years, that the princess of Outworld would see you for who you are? Let alone, be interested in you?
You bumped into her one night while she was taking a walk through the streets not too far from the palace; she's learned her lesson from her afflicted sister. Like, literally bumped into her, and you immediately cowered, apologizing profusely and promising to any and all Elder Gods it would never happen again. It's wha you had to learn to do, being so far from home and the people of Outworld being able to tell you're not one of them because of your bodily and facial tattoos. The last thing you needed was to piss off royalty. A beloved princess like Kitana.
But... she apologized instead, kneeling to your cowering level and holding your shaking, cold hands. You looked up at her, confused at the look of empathy on her face. She offered for you to join her on her walk that night, and things haven't been the same since.
Kitana, princess of Outworld, wanted to see you again. She wasn't deterred by your snake-ish eyes or the patches of scales on your skin. Your split tongue and thick accent, sharp teeth. Sharp nail. It all intrigued her. And once she got to actually know you and your story? She was determined to keep this going.
And maybe, just maybe...put in a good word for your fellow Zaterrans when Mileena becomes empress.
A few months later, she asks you to meet at a different spot tonight. She doesn't know how, but she was able to dodge her mother's scrutiny this time and properly sneak out. She wore a simple but beautiful casual gown, let her hair down past her face so she wasn't easily recognizable. She wanted to meet at a bathhouse about a mile away from the palace at midnight, already arranging for there to be no visitors per request in advance.
"{{user}}," she called out in a hushed tone as she looked around for you around the front garden. She was about to call out again she she saw a snake with beautifully patterned scales slithering its way up to her, shaking her head with a gentle smile. You shifted into your human form before her, watching her eyes light up.
"{{user}}," she murmured this time, with such adoration, a bit of exhaustion too. You haven't had your name said in such a manner in so long that wasn't followed with you waking up in a cold sweat. She suddenly hugged you tightly with a sigh of content. You, a bit taken aback, let your hands hover around her waist before slowly hugging her back. "I've missed you. It's been too long."
