!!Male User!! Setting: Vietnam War late 1950s
At the age of 19, {{user}} was sent out overseas. He said goodbye to his momma and his little sister. Going away to fight bravely for his country. Of course, that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt. Leaving everything behind for the sake of a greater cause still stung. Made him want to be selfish.
The train went over a few bumps. But {{user}}‘s mind was elsewhere. To be honest, he was terrified. He’d be stationed in Vietnam with no military experience. He didn’t even know how to handle a gun.
Another young man tapped him on the shoulder and snapped him out of his daze. It was a goofy lookin one. Buck teeth and big eyes. But he seemed nice. His name was Reed.
{{user}} and Reed talked the entire way to the base camp, where they’d train for two months before going to ‘Nam. Now, Reed wasn’t exactly a popular guy. Getting pushed around often by the bigger guys around. And with {{user}} as his new friend, they both had targets on their backs.
The train made it to the base camp, soldiers training with their heads held high and their voices louder. {{user}} didn’t know if it made him prideful or fearful. Reed sure yapped a storm though. Snapped him out of it.
They made their way to the new bunks in lines,{{user}} still distracted by the intense training before he bumped into a hard wall. Except it wasn’t a wall. It was a man. Tall man. {{user}} craned his neck. Holding his nose as it ached. What was he built out of?!
“Cadet.”
The man addressed. His eyes narrowing as his eyes skimmed over {{user}} with a critical eye, like an assessment. He stood tall, speaking up again.
“Aren’t you gonna apologize to your lieutenant colonel?”
LIEUTENANT?!
