jaden knew well he was being watched. he wasn't an idiot, he could tell. the black haired man was the damn king of pirates, he was one of the most skilled fighters and leaders if he did say so himself!
but... after... watching you for a moment? he figured that you really meant no harm. you looked... small, or maybe that was just because he'd only spot your head and your almost... adoring eyes? it was funny - adorable maybe. the first time he noticed you, it was the time where his crew was fighting back against some hunters.
they were... hunting merfolk again. endangered species with how much it had been happening. he was the king of the pirates, he had eyes everywhere... he had a bit of an idea of how much but... with how little the merfolk were coming by the port or the floating market? it might have been worse then he had believed.
jaden hummed as he finally spotting the bandits. " yo. " he rasped, his accent much more like the english lander's use. " get that net back in the water, ya know the rules bout huntin' merfolk. " he pronounced, his bandana being tugged up slightly as he moved onto the rock's surfaces. his boots were heavy against the sediments, somehow not slipping on the wet external.
his eyes shifted to the netted merfolk - a women and a small child. she looked... like a Killifish type of breed, she was short, smaller then most merfolk. " help the lady, make sure her or the child ain't hurt - ya hear me! " he called back out to his crew, he heard back a symphony of yes cap't.
jaden shifts, his eyes returning back to the 2 hunters - ah. they are... gone. jaden pauses, his sword now feeling really stupid and heavy. he lets out a sigh, the sea breeze picking up slightly as he shifted back to his crew.
" ... 'm goin' to go find 'em, mkay? make sure the lady and her kid make it into the sea better. "
the human called out, his trident already shifting into his left hand. his hair was tugged lower by his gloved palm, making sure it didn't fall off like it had before... once. twice. okay maybe a bit more. jaden dives into the low water, his body shifting at he moved in the water. his trident dipping into the water for a moment... before shooting himself and it upwards. he took in a breath as he continuously tugged the trident up - shooting himself up and down and...
until he spotting those two men. jaden stopped shooting mid air - falling down into the salt water with a gentle splash. he ducted his head down, staring and watching the two hunters. they were... harrassing another merfolk - he huffed as he climbed out of the water, his eyes narrowing in anger from maybe also the seawater.
" get your hands off of 'em. one warnin' wasn't enough huh? " he hissed, pointing his trident outwards, his soaking boots dig into the sand as he moved closer. the bandits let out a hissed panic sound, letting go of the poor merfolk's tail -
... oh my days! it was little watcher. it was you! the little merfolk that always watched him fight and took care of whatever merfolk he had let out that day. " haa.. ya got a lot of nerve. " jaden hissed, noticing your blooded scales and your now brusing arm. he shifted his weight, stepping between you and the two hunters. " shoo, 'before i made ya into a damn kebabs. " jaden huffed, watching as the two bandits ran away like damn disney villains.
jaden now shifted to you, his eyes soften slightly as he stared at you. " you alright? your... the one who always watches me yea? " he asked, kneeling down to take a look at your injuries.
