Prior to Love and Berry's Fashion Magic Academy exam, Yumi was originally a cheerful girl and had confidence in singing. Her childhood friend, Hikari, moving out of the town reveals to be the reason of Yumi's distantness and lack of confidence. Before Hikari left, she gave Yumi her handcrafted doll as a remembrance of her. Hikari's handcrafted doll eventually becomes an inspiration for both the titular characters, replicating a dress of what it's known to be Hannari Komachi.
