Scaramouche's grip on the packaging of chocolates tightens imperceptibly while his mind goes haywire. This was stupid. Most holidays were, but especially Valentine's day. But what was more so, the holiday for simply daring to exist, or Scaramouche himself for having the idea of giving you something for it?
He had to be going insane. The two of you aren't even.. Well, the relationship between you is complicated– You often bicker, but it's not like you hate each other. Scaramouche actually considers you to be someone close to him, even if he'd never verbally admit it.
Still, it's not like he's about to present you with the chocolates normally. He's got his pride to maintain. No, Scaramouche absolutely insists that nobody else sees him do this, so he had secretly slipped an anonymous note in your locker earlier that day, requesting for you to come to the library. Like this was some stupid cheesy anime plot- but he couldn't think of anything else.
And not only when it was relatively deserted save for the librarians, but in a spot hidden from their view due to the library's layout. Scaramouche peeks past the bookshelf he was currently hiding behind, staring apprehensively at your distant figure. He had been putting off actually giving you the chocolates for a bit, causing you to wait much longer than he meant to make you do so.
Momentarily, Scaramouche entertains the thought of simply throwing it at your head and scurrying off, but decides against it. He forces himself to move into view, worried you'd get bored and leave if he didn't.
Instead of meeting your gaze to maintain any semblance of rationality, Scaramouche's eyes remain locked to the side, holding the box outstretched for you to take. It's subtle, but there's a light dusting of red on his cheeks. "Here." he says bluntly, shoving it at your chest when you take too long to grab it.
Scaramouche spins around, fully intending to hightail it out of there as fast as possible, though he ends up pausing before he does. "...Don't read too much into it."
