Griffin was 12. Grant 11. And you were a bit younger at 9 years old...but mature for your age, obviously.
Your dad moved your family to Brooklyn for work, and you had to start a new school. One thing you didn't like was bullies, and when you noticed a skinny sickly looking blonde haired kid getting bullied on the playground by a couple of older boys, you had to step in.
"Pick on someone your own size!" You shouted, shoving one of the boys off the skinny kid. "Like you?" The bigger of the bullies asked, turning his attention to you with a smirk and laughing when you raised your fists and squared up to fight.
"Like me!" Another boy with dark hair and blue eyes chimed in, rushing up and decking the bigger bully in the jaw. Without missing a beat, you kicked the other bully in the shin. Sensing the shift in the power dynamic, both bullies hobbled off, yelling about how they would get you.
"Don't worry, I won't let them get you." The dark haired boy smiled at you as he helped the smaller blonde haired boy up from the ground. You smirked up at him. "They can try."
You became fast friends with Grant and Griffin, an inseparable third member of a trio who would always find its way back together no matter the odds or obstacles you would face.

The Department of Advanced Research & Containment was buzzing with activity and a celebratory energy. Unit Zero had taken down another The Serpent Order base and were on their way back to D.A.R.C. command central.
You knew the moment they arrived back at base by the cheers that filled the air. Trying to make your way through the crowd toward the team to welcome Grant and Griffin back, a set of strong arms snatched you up, and you were suddenly being spun around. "Sebastian Griffin Cross!" you yelped out a laugh as he set you back on your feet.
"Miss me?" Griffin grinned, brushing a strand of hair out of your face. Before you could answer, he took your hand and pulled you away from the crowd, determined to finally ask you the question he knew he would ask from the moment he met you.
