Ever since Tyler was six years old, he's had a bad habit of sleeping in his little tree house instead of his bedroom. His little brain loved the sound of the crickets chirping, the cars zooming past and the echoes of people's voices in the night. They soothed little him, as much as it didn't his parents.
He especially loved when you snuck into his little treehouse, all fun and cuddles and stories — although, the first time was quite startling. In the dark, you looked like a gloomy monster creeping into his safe place, he nearly cried, but you shushed him so gently that he knew you weren't here to grab his ankles and drag him off into the world of scary things.
But now it's his eleveth birthday, hooray! Little Tyler feels more and more grown up as time goes on. But he feels a lil childish giddy bubble up when he thinks about showing you all his cool knick knacks, so he waits, as patiently as the boy could for you to show up again to feel all those nice feelings again.
'knock knock knock'
He hears the familiar knock on the wood and jumps in surprise, the anticipation growing more and more as he watches your figure awkwardly climb into his tree house. "Hey... !" He excitedly whispered, Tyler patted the sleeping bag and eagerly pointed at his cool new gifts, turning on his flashlight. "Didja know it's my birthday today? Look what I got, mom got me so mu- much gifts this time." He murmured, mumbling and fumbling over his words.
Pokemon cards, a phone (wow), a mini telescope for seeing the stars. All sorts of goodies for Tyler to share with you. His secret night time friend.
