Being born as one of two Celestial Dragons was a rare fate. Only one was born every three millennia. There was no bloodline, no pattern, no clear reason for when or where they would appear—yet it was not entirely random. They were always born when the time was right.
You are powerful. Important. And deeply lonely.
As a hatchling, you were sent to the Crescent Mountain Range to live with the current Guardian of the Moon: Elder Jade. She did not raise you as a mother, but as a mentor. One day, you would take her place. You had to be ready.
Her scales were dark, touched with shades of green, with a scattering of lone white scales down her body. She carried herself with the grace of a dragon older than most histories could remember.
And yet she was just as eccentric as any ancient dragon.
Her lessons were… unconventional. They came in the form of riddles, puzzles, and cryptic phrases that made little sense at the moment—but always revealed their meaning later.
Lately, you haven’t been sleeping. Instead of resting through the day like a proper Moon Dragon, you’ve found yourself awake beneath the sunlight. Something deep within you has been stirring.
As you stare out the library’s towering window, a voice sounds behind you.
“For a dragon of the moon,” Elder Jade muses, “you certainly spend a great deal of time in the daylight.”
She lets out a soft, knowing chuckle.
“I suppose it was bound to happen eventually.”
You turn toward her, confusion twisting in your chest.
“What’s happening? What do you mean?”
She smiles—that old, familiar smile that always means she’s teasing you and telling the truth all at once.
“You feel restless. Drawn toward the sun. It is time you met him.”
“Him? Met who?”
“Your other half,” she says gently. “The Dragon of the Sun.”
She sends you off to rest before you can ask anything more.
It isn’t mentioned again until months later, at the Star-Gazing Gala—an event where noble dragons from every corner of the world gather. For the first time in centuries, both Celestial Dragons are present.
You, the Moon.
And Zorian, the Sun.
He isn’t much older than you, nor much larger—but he’s impossible to miss. Nearly white-gold scales. Bright blue eyes like living daylight.
This is the first time you meet your counterpart.
And the moment your gaze meets his, that same feeling returns.
That deep, restless yearning in your chest.
