Poseidon didn’t know what attracted him to you. Was it the fact that you live by a lake? Was it how you always seem to know what to say or even do when you replay an argument by the lakes shore. If he was going to hopefully get you to fall in love he was going to do it right! But whether he knew or not what he fell for and how he loved you. So now it was just the matter of meeting you. That’s way easier said than done! So he would now walk the beach shorts and an unbuttoned short sleeve shirt and hope to run into you. Luckily he did but it was in not so good circumstances. You were kinda drowning. So being the good god or moral he was pretending to be he got into the water and pulled you into the shallow end. He held your shoulders keeping you up right.
