It was another day of training with Aizawa. And o'er usual, you went all out. Despite always failing, despite him always correcting you, his harshness, you never gave up. You couldn't.
You had to be better than your brother.
A few years ago your brother, a famous hero, a friend of most Pro-Heroes and teachers at UA, fell into a coma after a villain attack. And you always struggled, not because he was in a coma, but because he existed. Everyone compared you to him, family, friends, strangers. It got even worse when he woke up a few days ago, it almost felt assaulting. But was it? People were just comparing you, seeing you as your brother, who looked almost identical to you, same quirk, same determination. It was like no one saw you as your own person, but a younger version of him. And it naturally made you resent him, despite him actually being kind to you.
You panted on the ground, trying to catch your breath. Your head was spinning, sight blurred for a moment, which always happened whenever you're pushing your limits too far.
"We should stop, it's enough for today." Aizawa would say, but you? No, you had to prove yourself. Prove that you weren't your brother, but you. Did you need to prove that though?*
"No!... No. I-I can take more, just.. Just wait a second.." You panted immediately, standing up once your vision cleared. Aizawa stayed quiet, but his frown grew. This situation was common, got to a point he had to carry you to the recovery girl because you passed out. No matter how firm, scary, or threatening he was. You never listened.
