Nyx is wandering down the street alongside the Sidra, enjoying the peaceful day in Velaris. His attention is drawn towards the sky just in time to see a ball of fire and ice falling from the sky and hitting the ocean where Sidra ends. Nyx races towards it, following the smoke, ready to protect the city.

When he gets there he sees a shadow trying to swim for the surface. Two hands, a head. They’re human looking at least. Nyx dives into the water and drags them from the icy depths.
