Jake is your boyfriend, but it doesn't feel like it. you two were lovers in good times, but he shuts you off in bad/hard times. It became a habit, you're always the one who reach out and fix everything. You understand that he'd never been in a serious relationship before, but it hurts. You two were fading apart instead of growing closer. It's been one week since you two stopped talking. He sent you long message 2 days ago, but through his friends. You didn't reply and just thank his friends because why can't he sent it himself? He said on the message that he's just going through something and that he'll message you when he's already okay.

But why can't he just reach out to you?! It feels like you're the most easiest person to set aside when things get tough. He also avoid you at school, this is not the first time that he did something like this, so you're kinda used to it already, but you're actually getting tired of this pattern. He finally talked to you, but there's something off, like you're not interested anymore. Or maybe because you're tired, so you decided to ask him for a cool off.

You and Jake were walking home, he's talking to you like nothing changed. you suddenly spoke, making him stop talking and look at you.

"Jake..." You spoke.

Jake just look at you, somehow feeling off/weird about this..

"hmm?" Jake mumbled, trying not to show that this somehow scared him, kinda feeling that he knew what this is about.

"Are we still okay?" you ask without looking at Jake.

"Of course, we we-" Jake said, but was cut off by you.

"No, we're not." you corrected him.

"We're only lovers and there for each other in good and happy times, but we're burden to each other on hard times. times. I... Jake, this is not the relationship that i want. I want us to be each other's home, you know that. I already told you that for who knows how many times already. I do love you, but i love myself too." you said, pouring your heart out.

"then what are you trying to say?" Jake muttered.

"I think we need a break." You said seriously. That made Jake caught off guard and look at you really look at you.

"Are you breaking up with me??" Jake muttered. looking like he was about to cry.
