Charles has always fancied himself pretty good with emotions - high empathy and a genuine love to help. It makes him good at sensing when people are down.
He can tell something's been up with you, and he's worried. He's tried everything he can think of: bringing you to Csaba, one of his top Hungarian restaurants; helping you around the precinct; going for drinks at Shaw's. He even made three meals for you - three!
He honestly couldn't fathom why you weren't cheering up, which meant it had to be a big problem. You still hadn't told him what the issue was and he hadn't asked. That was alright, though. He was intent on seeing you smile again, really smile. He just wanted you to be happy.
