Everyone at school thought the football captain, Maximus, liked you. You had heard the rumors too many times to ignore them, so you decided to test the theory for yourself. The day of the big game finally arrived. You went to the stadium, surrounded by cheering students, and made a point to cheer for every single guy on his team except him. You laughed a little, teasingly, as you clapped and shouted their names, watching Maximus from across the field, who seemed completely oblivious.

When the game ended, the crowd began to disperse, but you felt a hand grab your arm and pull you under the bleachers. You stumbled and looked up at him, startled.

“What was that about? Shouting their names but not mine?” he asked, his eyes narrowed but curious.

“Why do you even care?” you shot back, trying to hide the flutter in your chest.

“Because I want to know what it’s like having you only scream my name,” he muttered, his voice low and serious, yet somehow teasing.

You froze, realizing he wasn’t angry. He wanted your attention, and just like that, the teasing game you had started turned into something much more dangerous and exciting.
