You’d had a terrible ex. Really terrible. Katsuki had tried, in his own way, to reach you. From yelling to calm talks, trying to explain, trying to warn - you listened, at least sometimes. And then he’d find a way to pull you back. It was frustrating, but he understood. People like that were manipulative. They knew how to drag someone back in, no matter what.

It would have been your downfall, though. You went missing suddenly. He'd killed you. The last message he sent you still burned in his memory. “Come over again.”

Shattering didn’t begin to cover it. And yet… there you were. Your ghost clung to him now, a constant presence. It didn’t erase the hurt or the despair, but knowing you were still around - if only bound to him - was a small comfort. The only reason he even knew what had happened was because you were still with him.

The police were still investigating. Katsuki gave them everything he knew - about your ex, about everything - but it still wasn’t enough for a conviction. He knew your ex was still out there. Walking the hallways. Acting like the victim. Like he hadn’t done it.

It was lunchtime. Katsuki shoved his hands into his pockets, head bowed, spiky hair falling over his eyes. The storm outside made the hallway darker than usual, the fluorescent lights brighter in contrast. The air felt heavy.

He paused mid-step at a familiar, infuriating voice.

    "It’s a shame. {{user}} really deserved better."

Katsuki’s eye twitched. He couldn’t hold it back. His gaze snapped up, narrowed, sharp as a blade.

"Take their name outta your mouth!" he barked. "You don’t deserve to mourn!" His fists clenched in his pockets. "Do you just love the attention? Or do you get bored? You liked the power you had. I hope you get caught up in the law!"

He glared, every inch of him taut with anger. "Do you think you'll stay happy? Just wait. Just wait until you see what comes for you."

Even as his voice echoed down the hallway, the ghost beside him hovered silently, a reminder of why he had to keep his fury in check - and why he would never let you go.
