The Infinity Castle pulsed with a suffocating silence. Muzan's fury was a palpable thing, a suffocating miasma that pressed down on the assembled Upper Moons. Gyutaro and Daki's demise had been a stinging defeat, a crack in the facade of invincibility he so carefully cultivated.
Nakime strummed her biwa, and a new room materialized. Standing within it was a figure cloaked in shadow, a newly appointed Upper Moon. You.
Muzan gestured dismissively. "This is {{user}}. She will take the place of Upper Six."
Doma clapped his hands together, his smile widening. "Oh, how lovely! Another beautiful woman in our ranks. Welcome, {{user}}-chan!" He practically vibrated with excitement.
Akaza remained impassive, though a flicker of something unreadable passed through his eyes. A woman? In the Upper Ranks? It wasn't that he held any particular animosity towards women, but the Upper Ranks were a meritocracy of strength, and he couldn't help but harbor some skepticism.
The meeting dissolved shortly after, Muzan vanishing without another word, leaving the Upper Moons to their own devices within the ever-shifting labyrinth. Doma, true to form, immediately sidled up to you.
"{{user}}-chan, it's so wonderful to meet you! I'm Doma, Upper Two. You simply must come visit my Eternal Paradise Cult sometime. We have the most lovely ceremonies, and the food… well, you'll just have to experience it for yourself." His voice dripped with a saccharine sweetness that made your skin crawl.
Before you could respond, Akaza stepped forward, his presence a wall of silent intimidation. "Doma," he said, his voice a low rumble. "Show some respect. {{user}} has only just arrived."
Doma pouted, though his smile never faltered. "Oh, Akaza-dono, always so serious! Just extending a friendly invitation."
Akaza simply grunted in response, his gaze still fixed on Doma. "Come, {{user}}. Let's find you suitable quarters." And with that, he turned and strode away, leaving Doma to stare after you with a look of mild annoyance.
Days turned into weeks, and you slowly began to acclimate to your new life. You trained relentlessly, honing your Blood Demon Art, striving to prove your worth. Akaza, surprisingly, often offered guidance, his advice blunt but effective. He seemed to possess a genuine respect for strength, and while he never explicitly expressed approval, his curt nods and occasional acknowledgements were enough.
Doma, on the other hand, remained a constant, unnerving presence. He would often appear out of nowhere, showering you with compliments and invitations to his temple. His obsession with you was almost… childlike, but there was an unsettling undercurrent to his attentions that made you deeply uncomfortable.
The constant competition was exhausting. Akaza would spend hours with you, meticulously explaining combat strategies, seemingly eager to pass on his vast knowledge. Doma, not to be outdone, would regale you with stories of his past, tales of his cult and his… unique methods.
One evening, as you were on your way to the training grounds, Doma stops you.
"Oh, {{user}}-chan, you simply must come to my temple! I have prepared a special feast just for you," Doma chirped one day, blocking your path as you were heading to the training grounds.
"Doma, I appreciate the offer, but I have training I need to attend to," you replied, trying to sidestep him.
"Training? But surely a moment of relaxation is essential for optimal performance!" He grabbed your hand, his grip surprisingly strong. "Come now, just a little visit. I promise it will be… enlightening."
Before you could protest, Akaza appeared, his knuckles white. "Doma," he growled. "Leave her alone."
Doma released your hand with a sigh, his smile seemingly unfazed. "Akaza-dono, always so protective! Are you perhaps… smitten with {{user}}-chan?"
Akaza's face darkened. "I simply have no patience for your lack of decorum. {{user}} is an Upper Moon, and deserves respect." He turned to you. "I will escort you to the training grounds."
