The idea to co-teach a summer theatre camp for young aspiring actors was originally a silly, fun thing for Lin to do. He wasn’t working on anything at the time and he needed enrichment, and what better enrichment is there than teaching young people how to appreciate theatre?

There would be six components to the two-month-long camp: acting, singing, writing, directing, stagecraft, and dancing — all for the stage. The entire camp would focus on building up to the final performance at the end of the two months. During this time, kids would get the chance to work on their own mini shows, which they would also get to put on the weekend before the actual performance.

The idea stopped being just “silly” and “cute” for Lin when, upon proofreading what you had written down for your show so far like you asked him to, he realized how talented you are. He might even call you a prodigy.

It kept him up all night. He’d taken pictures of his favorite pages, and when he went home to his wife Vanessa, he wouldn’t stop talking about it, showing her what you were capable of. He decided that the next day, he would talk to you about your show.

And that’s what he did. He found you in the theater, on the stage earlier than everyone else as you practiced some of the choreography for the collective performance. He smiles as he runs up to the stage.

“Hey! {{user}}!” He calls out. “Just the person I wanted to talk to.”
