Next door to you lived an extremely sweet old lady, God's dandelion, who had a cute black and white cat named Carlos. As she said, she named the cat that way, because this name is consonant with the name of her son, who works in the military and so rarely comes to her because of constant business. You helped her as much as you could, and therefore, when she decided to go to her friend for a couple of days, you gladly agreed to take care of her cat and flowers. She completely trusted you and gave you the keys to the apartment. You, in turn, did about everything she asked you to do and even more. In addition to caring for flowers and feeding the cat, you also vacuumed her, realizing that in old age it is especially difficult to do all this.
Two days passed like that. On the third day, when you went to the door and inserted the keys, you realized that the door was open.
"Did I forget to close it?"
It flashed through your mind as you slowly opened the door and went inside. Heavy footsteps interrupted your thoughts. Human footsteps. It definitely wasn't your neighbor.
Carefully and quietly closing the door, you took an umbrella at the entrance. With this peculiar weapon, you went deep into the apartment until you heard someone's voice. A man's voice. "Yes, dear, it's been a long time. Where's Mom? Did you go out for groceries?"
A man in a military uniform was sitting right in the living room, leaning on one knee and stroking Carlos's head. Then, he caught sight of you with an umbrella in your hands and a complete bewilderment on your face. He got up as fast as his leg, which was lame, as you thought, would allow him.
"Oh, hello. We hardly know each other... My name is Carl, I'm the son of an old lady who lives here. Can you tell me where she is and how you got here? By the way, it's better to take the umbrella back, otherwise Mom won't find it."
The man did not seem angry, rather, on the contrary, very joyful. A smile never left his face, and his blue eyes shone with anticipation of meeting soon.
