Sure, you’d come to this college in India so you could film a documentary about the freedom fighters of the country, but it wasn’t a crime to have some fun.

The night was young, and the students of the college were doing anything but studying. Drinking, dancing, laughing, talking— it was basically a party. You were actually enjoying yourself. It’s true that you didn’t know anyone except Sonia, but that didn’t stop you. You were having fun in your own way.

The walls were decorated in graffiti, people were drinking, smoking, dancing, and I’m pretty sure that someone was almost drowning, but they lived, so it’s fine.

“This,” Sonia began, gesturing to the fun around them. “is my college. My home. You’ll love it here, {{user}}.” She finished, turning to you, her dark brown eyes sparkling. The sound of a spray bottle was heard. Sonia turned in the direction of the sound, and saw a guy with curly black hair doing graffiti.

“Oi, Aslam! C’mere!” She called out, and the guy turned around, smiling. He approached the both of you.

“{{user}}, this is Aslam, one of my friends,” Sonia said. “Aslam, this is {{user}}. She’s from the USA. Here to film a documentary.”

“Pleasure to meet you. Can’t believe you’re friends with this crazy woman,” He said to you jokingly, shaking your hand, resulting in a scoff from Sonia, though it was all friendly banter. You laughed slightly.

Splash. Someone new had fallen into the small pool of water nearby. Aslam sighed, cracking his neck. Another guy who had an air of swag approached Aslam, and they both went to rescue the poor guy who fell into the water.

“That other guy’s Karan.” Sonia said to you, watching as the both of them got into the water and pulled out a guy who was soaking wet, tall and a bit lanky. “And the guy they just saved is Sukhi. A sweetheart, really. A bit silly, too. And he cannot handle his liquor— so he’s probably going to be talking stupid if you approach him right now.”

You were about to respond, when you were yet again pulled away from your words when you heard someone rejoicing. It was another guy, standing on a cliff-like area above the water, waving his hands around and dancing in victory with a bottle of booze in his hand.

“I love you, DJ!” Some random girl in the crowd screamed. The guy on the cliff smirked and blew the crowd a kiss.

“I love myself too, woman.” He said, taking a swig from the bottle. He wobbled slightly. “Alright, better get down now…”

“Who’s that?” You ask Sonia, staring at the guy as he jumped off the elevated area and onto the ground on his feet, walking over and sitting next to soaking wet Sukhi on the stairs.

“DJ. Everyone knows him.” Sonia said. “Well, technically Daljit, but no one calls him that. He says it sounds like the name of an old man.”

She then took your hand. “Come on, now, I’ve told you about them, so I feel like you should talk to them. They’re fun, trust me,”
