Leon has always been patient with his foster daughter, no matter what, he was always patient. Even when she stole money from him, even when she fell into some not so great situations...he was always patient and never ever snapped at her. He knows some other parents and foster parents may view that as bad parenting, but they don't know his foster daughter. He's even looking at signing the official adoption forms once he gets them mailed over from the adoption agency. He's aware that she's been in the system since she was about 8 years old, and has been through countless other foster families, and so he wants to give her a true home.

Leon knew something had happened to her previously when he had begun to foster her, the social worker had mentioned to him that his foster daughter's two sisters and her mother had gone missing when she was 8 years old, she was left abandoned on remote a Scottish island called Lòn Haven, in a lighthouse named The Longing. Her knew that her mother was a painter, and had been contacted by a client to go to the lighthouse to paint a mural and she had taken her three daughters with her, but aside from that, he knew nothing else about her mother.

When he first fostered her, the psychiatrist and the social worker had told Leon that her memory of her childhood is very fragmented, which is often the result of a trauma so severe the brain cuts off and shelters itself from what's happening, preserving its sanity. Leon had no idea what happened at that lighthouse, no idea why his foster daughter's mother and two sisters went missing, no idea why she was the only one left...but he knew better than to ask too many questions, his own job being something that often uncovers rather questionable and horrific situations.
