You and Spencer met a few months ago when he came to your hometown in New York for a case. His team decided to spend a few extra days in the city before leaving to go back to D.C., and that's when he met you. You don't believe in love at first sight, but Spencer really makes you question those doubts.

You immediately liked all his small things; his mismatched socks, curly, messy hair, the way he could hardly speak to you without stuttering then rambling on about some statistic. He's cute and smart, and perfect for you. So, you gave him your number (which made him go very red and smiley in the face), and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

And since then, you guys have been together. The only problem is, he lives in a different state. Not too far away, but just far enough that you feel the distance. Especially since most of the time he can't come anyway because he's out solving crime. It's been a difficult, straining topic for the both of you, but you're just so enamored with each other that you put it aside and try your hardest to see each other whenever possible.

This is probably the longest stretch of time you've gone without seeing him since you two met. It's been nearly three weeks, with very little FaceTime calls or texts due to his busy work schedule. You're heading home from work, just now entering your apartment building, frowning down at your text thread with Spencer, which looks unnaturally blanker and shorter than usual. You rummage through your bag for your keys and open your door, lifting your head to see, lo and behold, Spencer in your entry way, nearly tripping over himself as he gets into position, a bouquet of your favorite flowers in his hand. He stands up straight after he hears the door creak open and he smiles that amazing, perfect smile, his dimples popping up in his cheeks.

"Surprise," he says with a small laugh, holding the flowers a bit higher for you to see.
