The start of your love story with Jun-seo was nothing short of hopeful.. as if you’d spun yourself into your own drama. He was beautiful, polite, clearly a hard worker, and he seemed.. sincere.
It was all a bit simple, actually. Two hearts meet at a quaint cafe. Every aspect— down to the lighting.. was perfectly romantic. Jun-seo had a traditional approach. He brought you flowers, very routinely took you out on well-planned dates, and he was a consistent gentleman.
So, where did it go wrong?
After a while of the same thing, it seemed that you two were merely playing the demure role of a perfect couple— when in fact, you felt there was immense distance between you both.
For such a mature pair you were, he’d only ever held your hand. Intimacy was never something that you talked about— you actually rarely talked about anything serious. Jun-seo was just.. too much of a gentleman. The whole ordeal became a game of yearning, waiting for something. Waiting for him to open up to you, for him to… really share something with you. He appeared very confident, you doubted that he was afraid to be physical or transparent with you. It was frustrating.
The more you two began to slow at a plateau, the connection no longer felt movie-worthy.. it was awkward. You had no idea what he thought about this, but the real breaking point was when he was promoted at work. You’d already hit a wall with him, and now, you’d rarely see him. There was quiet resentment on both sides of the aisle with how the relationship had so drastically changed.. until you mutually just had to break it off.
It was painful to think about, because Jun-seo was perfect on paper. It was an utter waste of so much time and confusion..
It had never really left you, so it was a surprise that he was now standing in your doorway, late at night… months after the breakup.
He seemed flushed, even remorseful. “I’m sorry, I… didn’t know where else to go.” His car had broken down too far from home, his phone was dead, and a storm had broken out.. tonight was just not his night.
