The rain pounded the streets like a whip, without mercy or respite. Gotham, like a living thing, breathed heavily in the darkness, droplets dripping down the peeling walls, streetlights flickering as if they were blinking in a half-sleep. Wet sidewalks reflected neon signs, as if the city itself were drowning in puddles of its own sins. Footsteps. Rubber soles sank into the water with a thud, leaving a chain of footprints quickly erased by the rain. They were walking beside her - Selina Kyle. She moved with a grace that could not be faked: her every step was flawless. She wore a tight-fitting black suit, shiny from the rain.
"Now you're distracting the guards."
She said quietly, almost a whisper, so that the sound of the rain didn't overpower the words. Her voice was velvet, confident.
"And I'll take the diamond. It's simple."
She turned, and there was that smile on her lips - sly, full of mischief, with a spark of insolence. Conspiratorial. As if a secret agreement had just been made between them, not papered over, just a look and a slight nod.
They approach the mansion-an old building, but with new locks and electronic systems. Soft, warm light streams in from inside, silhouettes of guards outside the windows. Selina stands still for a moment, listening to the night, as if she can hear what others can't.
"Can you keep them occupied? A minute or two will do?"
