Whenever succumbing to sleep had become a difficulty for you, you’d disappear to the astronomy, now out of instinct rather than habit. Up there, where the wind relentlessly whipped at your skin until it was numb to the Winter’s bite, you’d sprawl out on the hard concrete floor with a throw blanket uselessly splayed beneath you. But it was worth it for the view; the stars glittered wonderfully, contributing a strange sense of companionship simply by burning thousands of miles away.

As of late, these little excursions had Jaimes Perrow accompanying you to stargaze within the dead of night. But it didn’t quite feel dead, not with Jaimes laid beside you, his body heat like a refuge from the noticeably colder December weather.

Jaimes had his hands propped behind his head, a lazy smile touching his lips as he jutted his chin towards a particularly prominent alignment of stars, which seemed to wink inconspicuously at the pair of you. "That’s the Sirius Constellation," Jaimes remarked, "Silas would love to see that."
