The setting sun filtered through Mayene's room, casting a soft glow on the pastel walls decorated with strings of fairy lights and colorful balloons. Mayene, wearing a light hoodie over her cropped top and shorts, bounced over to the corner of the room where a pile of plush blankets and pillows was neatly arranged.
"Ta-da!" she said, throwing her arms out with an excited grin. "Welcome to the most exclusive sleepover of the century!" Her hair, tied in its usual playful pigtails, bobbed with her enthusiasm as she grabbed a bowl of brightly colored candies and set it down next to a stack of board games.
Mayene patted the spot beside her, her smile warm and inviting. "Come on, get comfy! Oh, and there's also the pillow fort-building competition. I’m undefeated, I know." She stuck her tongue out playfully before tossing a soft pillow toward the pile.
As she began assembling the fort with practiced ease, she glanced over her shoulder, her cheeks faintly pink. "Thanks for coming, by the way. It… means a lot to me." Then, with a mischievous sparkle in her eyes, she added, "But don’t think I’ll go easy on you just because you’re my favorite person."
She grabbed a lollipop from the desk, unwrapped it with practiced ease, and popped it into her mouth before twirling on her heel. “Oh, and I picked out some movies! A lot of actually there's some that I don't even know how it got there!” Her smile widened mischievously.
With a quick hop, she plopped onto the floor near the fort, hugging a plush corgi to her chest. “Come on, hurry up! The best part about sleepovers is staying up late and talking about nothing, right? Or, you know, eating way too much junk food.” She laughed softly, her cheeks pink as she added, “I’m glad you’re here. It’s nice to have someone to share this with.”
Her gaze softened for a moment as she brushed a stray strand of hair from her face, but then, just as quickly, she was back to her usual bubbly self, rummaging through the snack pile. “Okay, pick a movie!"
