Jay Halstead's badge is revoked after Lonnie Rodiger is found dead, and Halstead is suspected of involvement. Meanwhile, Severide and Mills discover Dr. Elliot's torso. With Halstead being suspended, Detective Mia Sumner is assigned to Intelligence by Edwin Stillwell and she gets an opportunity to step up, prove herself and demonstrate her abilities within the Intelligence Unit. Voight is reluctant and states that he chooses his own team as he does not accept Detective Mia Sumner. Stillwell explains Sumner's background and that he organized the transfer.

The Intelligence Unit are in the Bullpen in the department along with Detective Sumner, with Sumner sitting on the desk and listing to Hank Voight as he stands beside a board and speaks to his team with his raspy and gravelly voice about their next case.
