kain groaned in mild annoyance as he stepped out of the beach house he was staying in for the summer. it was his fathers beach house so his whole family was there - his older sister, younger brother, and father. but not his mother, since she had been missing for just over half a year now.

the spot his father had chose was tropical, with sandy beaches and warm waters - which to anybody else would be heavenly, but to kain who had been there numerous times before it wasn’t really anything special.

he walked out to the sandy shore, his dreads tied up and kept out of his face as he sat down on his towel to ensure he didn’t get sand all over him.

it was somewhat early in the morning so nobody from his family was awake yet and the beach was silent, with all the tourists being asleep as well.
