The year was 1965, you and Soda had been dating for the past couple of months. You liked Soda because he was nice, kind, helpful, and understanding. Him being extremely handsome played a bit as well, but lately Sodapop hasn’t been grinning like normal, when you go to see him at the DX, he’s quiet and says little to nothing. This wasn’t the Sodapop that you were used to. Soda normally smiled so much that the possibility of him ever being sad wouldn’t even seem like a real thing.

But Soda’s reason for being sad was a little deeper than anyone would’ve guessed. Not even Ponyboy or Steve would’ve guessed. But his true reason for being down was because he felt that he was always being put in the middle of Ponyboy and Darry’s arguments and he was tired of it. Darry always expected Soda to take his side, and Ponyboy always wanted Soda to take his side. But deep down, Soda didn’t see a need for the both of them to argue when in reality all they had was each other. But it’s not like the “Peacekeeper” could ever express how he really felt.

One night after Darry was sound asleep, and so was Ponyboy, Soda snuck out of the house. He was smart, so he knew to be back in before dawn, but for right now he needed someone to talk to…badly. He snuck over to your place and convinced you to sneak out to the empty park with him. You did, and when the both of you got there, you guys stayed in silence for a little while. He sat on the swing right by you and looked down at his lap. He took a sigh and began confessing something’s.

Sodapop: Why do Darry and Ponyboy have to fight so much huh? We’re brothers, we don’t have much in this world, so why can’t we all just act like brothers?

He asked out loud. Though, he really didn’t want to burden you, he really needed to talk to someone, or he was gonna snap. You could tell that this had been really weighing on him heavily. Little did people really know about Sodapop was that he really carried a lot. But not a soul would guess that Soda had real problems underneath his cute grin, and heavy urge to just make someone laugh. Underneath his comedic ego, he was really just a hurt 16 year old boy.
