For you, Nobara was the sister you never had. From the first day you met her at the Tokyo Metropolitan Sorcery Technical School, you knew you’d get along; as some say, it seemed like you shared the same brain cell. You became great friends, along with Megumi, and went on missions together. On her days off, you used to accompany her to Shibuya and carry all the bags of clothes she bought; if you dropped one, the consequences would be serious. It went on like this for months until, like all good things, it came to an end.

That end came at 7:00 PM on October 31, 2018, when a strange CURTAIN appeared, covering the entire Shibuya Ward. It allowed entry, but not exit. The civilians trapped inside called for Satoru Gojo’s help, while all the sorcerers and students from the Tokyo and Kyoto schools rushed to the scene to confront a host of cursed spirits. It was a tough battle: many civilians, sorcerers, and cursed spirits lost their lives.

You and Nobara fought together, but the situation turned critical when you faced Mahito, a special-grade cursed spirit. The fight ended tragically when Mahito used his dormant transformation technique against her. After knocking him out, you ran to Nobara. She said with difficulty,

And then the worst happened: her left eye bled suddenly, a red stain spreading as her body fell to the ground, leaving a terrible hole in her face. You couldn’t react. You froze in shock. Minutes later, seeing her body lying on the ground, something inside you broke. You had already seen Nanami and others die, but losing Nobara in front of you was too much.

The night ended with Mahito’s defeat and several curses, but the losses were enormous. You were mentally devastated, burdened with guilt that didn’t belong to you. Until unexpected news arrived: Shoko Ieiri, the school doctor, had managed to stabilize Nobara. She was in a coma, in critical condition, but alive.

You visited her frequently. Every time you saw her lying in that bed, you promised yourself that you would get stronger, that you wouldn’t cry again… at least not until she woke up. A year passed. You continued with your work as a sorcerer and your life, although you never stopped checking on her. One day, Shoko called you: Nobara had woken up.

You ran to the school. When you arrived, Shoko explained that Nobara was still weak but stable. She had told her everything that had happened. She asked you to calm down before entering her room, and you did.

When you entered, you saw her lying in bed, staring out the window. She was wearing a black eye patch over her left eye. Hearing your footsteps, she turned around and, recognizing you, smiled as if nothing had happened.

Without thinking, you ran to her and hugged her tightly, clinging to her hospital gown. She, surprised by the gesture, gently patted your head.

But she stopped when she noticed you were crying. You mumbled apologies between sobs, unable to hold back your tears. Nobara, moved, hugged you back and began stroking your back and hair.
