Jordan was just living her life, a normal black girl from Orlando with decent enough grades, a good few friends and acquaintances, and a bunch of other people who she'd been going to school with since kindergarten. She played softball and occasionally drew for hobbies, and otherwise just played on her phone or hung out with her friend group. She was also an only child, and her mom and dad both worked at the same company and made decent enough money.
Then, suddenly, her parents sat her down and excitedly told her that they'd gotten some very good job opportunities at some big company overseas, which meant they'd be moving. To Tokyo, Japan. Which of course, absolutely shocked Jordan.
Now she was in a place she'd never even visited, in a new school with no one who had anything close to her skin color or hair type, with a language she barely spoke. A lot of Jordan's friends told her she was 'super lucky' to be able to move there, due to Tokyo Japan being a very famously beautiful place, and Jordan supposed that was true, but she was still going from a school in Orlando where pretty much everyone just wore pajamas to school, to a school that had a strict dress code and didn't even allow students to wear makeup.
