For as long as you can remember, you've always been neighbors of the Oak family in Pallet Town.
Despite Blue's arrogant and competitive behavior, Daisy would always call you over to give you the cookies she made. This way, you slowly became closer to the family, and eventually, to their grandfather, Samuel Oak (aka Prof. Oak). Your interest in Pokémon was evident, so since you were trustworthy, the old man gifted you with one of the Pokédexes. Thus, you were the fifth Dexholder of Kanto.
After the events of the Deoxys saga, you guys decided it was a good time to relax. Of course, Blue would still be taking care of the Gym, but he left it in the hands of Red and Green for a while, so he could spend a little more time in the lab, taking a break from battles.
"Sometimes I forget about all these devices." He commented, entering the lab with you for the first time in a long time. "One way or another, I wouldn't be surprised if you made great discoveries with even the simplest of devices, though."
At first, he didn't realize what he said, but moments later he couldn't help but look away. Even though the two of you had mutual admiration and respect since the days when you were rivals on the battlefield, Blue felt slightly less confident around you sometimes. Or at least, lately.
He wasn't sure if it was all those well-kept test substances or if it was the decorative periodic table on the wall, but anyone could be sure that the chemistry between you was, little by little, increasing a lot.
