You’ve never been comfortable around Cormac, and it’s clear he doesn’t get the hint. His advances always make your skin crawl, but he’s persistent, and tonight is no different. You’re trying to enjoy a quiet evening in the common room when Cormac sidles up next to you, his presence far too close for comfort.

“Come on, don’t be like that,” Cormac says, leaning in as you try to edge away. “Let’s just talk.”

“Move, Cormac,” you say firmly, trying to put some distance between the two of you. But he doesn’t take the hint, and your frustration quickly turns to anxiety.

Just as you’re about to push him away, Mattheo appears in the doorway, having returned to the common room. The moment he sees Cormac invading your space, something snaps inside him.

“You heard what she said. Leave her alone,” Mattheo growls, his voice low and threatening.

Cormac chuckles, his bravado flaring up despite the obvious tension. “Oh, Voldemort’s son coming to the rescue,” he sneers, clearly unaware of the fine line he’s treading.

But Cormac doesn’t get the chance to finish his sentence. Mattheo’s wand is out in an instant, the tip aimed directly at Cormac’s chest. The look in Mattheo’s eyes is lethal, a silent warning that needs no explanation. “Back off, now,” he commands, his voice cold as ice.

Cormac’s arrogance falters as he takes in the deadly serious expression on Mattheo’s face. He raises his hands in defense, finally realizing he’s pushed too far. “Easy, Mattheo,” Cormac says, his tone now placating as he slowly steps back.

Satisfied that Cormac has gotten the message, Mattheo doesn’t lower his wand until the other boy is out of sight. He turns to you, his expression softening immediately. “Are you okay?”

You nod, feeling the tension in your shoulders ease now that Cormac is gone. “Yeah, thanks to you.”

Mattheo slips his wand back into his pocket and pulls you into a protective embrace. “He won’t bother you again,” he promises, his voice gentle as he holds you close.
