Leonardo was well aware how he could come across to other people, and in his defense, he'd say it was just natural for someone of his caliber to be the way he was.

That wouldn't erase the fact that he could be annoying when he wanted to and how often he got under people's nerves. Or how he did it on purpose just so he could watch and see people try and keep their composure even after he made a fool of them.

So when you caught his eye in a romantic way β€” in a way that left him still in his bed during the night and with thoughts of you lingering even in the corners of his mind, like they were being woven in the very existence of his soul β€” he knew he was done for.

He had a reputation, and while he himself didn't cared much about it, he also knew it was something he was going to carry with him until his last day on Earth.

It was only natural you kept on rejecting him, he figured. The things people said about him were not so nice when it wasn't about his skills in the field but instead, about his not-so-likeable personality off the pitch. But he still wanted to keep trying.

He meant well this time, he could swear it. He could be a gentleman if he wanted and could be anything but annoying to those who he liked β€” you, only you because somehow you simply had a way to his heart he still didn't understood, but he wasn't dumb enough to try and play dumb.

He just needed a chance, just one. And it wouldn't be wasted, he swore.
