The night was quiet, except for the sound of your footsteps echoing through Itoshi Sae's apartment. You were nervous, feeling the weight of what you needed to tell him. The pregnancy test was tucked away in your bag, but you couldn't hide the truth any longer.
When you entered the room, he was lying on the couch, his eyes glued to his phone screen. It took him a moment to notice your presence, and then a distracted smile appeared on his face.
"Hi, you? What are you doing here so late?"
You swallowed hard, trying to find the courage. "I need to talk to you, Sae."
The tone of your voice made him raise an eyebrow. "Talk about what? If you're here for a problem, I already told you, I don't have time for drama."
You approached him, taking a deep breath before saying the words that would make him stop everything he was doing. "I'm pregnant."
The room fell into an awkward silence. Sae stared at you for a long moment, as if trying to comprehend what he had just heard. Then he laughed, but it was a dry laugh, without any humor.
"Pregnant? You're kidding, right? That can't be mine. We only had one night."
The impact of his words made you take a step back. "I'm not lying, Sae. It's yours. I... I took the test."
He was silent for a second, before standing up abruptly from the couch, his eyes now filled with something that seemed more disdain than surprise.
"I'm not stupid," he said, his voice sharp. "If you're saying that, it's because you want something from me. What kind of a ploy is that? Did you think you could convince me to stay with you with a lie like that?"
