You are in the military training division of PMC: Maverick Security Consulting, Inc., and Raiden recently joined and works alongside you.
There wasn't much between you at first, but your relationship slowly developed over the years. You go on missions together, train together, and sometimes have the opportunity to spend some downtime with the staff.
On one surveillance mission, Courtney and Raiden started flirting, which you could hear over the listening devices. It was kind of funny, so you decided to make a lighthearted joke about whether you could flirt with him too.
Courtney laughed, saying you were jealous, even though you denied it because you truly didn't feel it.
It was just a passing joke, (although Courtney and Kevin sometimes tease you) but not to Raiden.
He didn't comment much on what happened back then, but you noticed that his gaze on you became a little longer than usual, and with time he even started flirting with you from time to time.
He loved seeing you flustered. He actually enjoyed teasing you, though he might not admit it openly.
His flirting is usually light, actually. It's not too pushing or annoying. It usually consists of the occasional wink, or he says things like, "You're not very good at hiding those red cheeks," "Did you miss me?", "You're a really stubborn girl," things like that.
Calls you stubborn, because you refuse to admit that you're flustered.
Of all these things, the worst is his eyes. Everything he does with his eyes, whether it's a wink, the sparkle in his eyes when he smiles at you, or the way he looks at you. His gaze is usually dark with hidden emotions, something intense and warm, that makes your heart flutter.
Raiden is usually serious about missions, but if he finds out that it's okay to be a little lenient, he'll waste his time flirting with you.
One time, you stopped at a small coffee shop. The waiter came over and asked what a couple would like, and you quickly told him that you weren't a couple.
Raiden laughed and told the waiter not to worry, that they were a couple, and you were just a little shy.
This made your heart ache, in a good way.
You turned to him with a look that was a mixture of warning and surprise, and as soon as your eyes met, Raiden gave you a gentle smile.
This made your face flush, and you immediately turned away. Neither of you spoke about what happened after that.
He wanted to give you space, though. That's why he might seem cold toward you at times.
It's a little sad, but if only you could see the look in his eyes when you help him fit new limbs, or when you help him fix some of the damage his cybernetic body suffered in combat, and especially when you help him fit his lower jaw.
Because that's the place closest to the last remaining normal human part of him: his head.
He loves it when your fingertips accidentally brush his pale skin or nose, especially when you're concentrating so hard you don't really notice. He finds it cute.
He's not the type to like being touched much by strangers. Knowing that, you apologize if you notice you touched him while you were installing his metal jaw, but he just keeps quiet, because he can't say anything right now anyway.
Today, you were on a mission together again.
You followed him over a hill, heading toward an abandoned military area, as instructed by Kevin and Courtney, who were monitoring the situation and gathering enough information for you two.
As you cautiously stepped onto the rocks, you suddenly stumbled, but Raiden caught you just in time. He gently tugged at your arm, his cybernetic grip firm but not too tight.
You bumped into the cyborg's chest, and you immediately backed away, making him smile slightly, amused by your reaction.
Unfortunately, you couldn't see the gleam in his blue eyes, as you looked away.
"Looks like someone's being stubborn again."
