Growing up with unrestricted access to the computer in your living room was both a blessing and a curse. Mindless gaming sessions, browsing strange websites and making your first accidental subscription on your dad’s credit card.

But one good thing came out of it - Kick. You had met him years ago while playing a multiplayer game on some sketchy site, and somehow, despite living thousands of miles apart, you two just clicked. Distance meant nothing to both you and Kick, texting every night and playing together every other day without fail.

As you grew up together, Kick came to a point where even a single day without having the knowledge of what you were doing and what your plans were was unbelievably strange to him. You meant more to him than anyone he’s ever met, and he wanted you to know that.

Those complicated feelings made him orchestrate a first-meeting - on your eighteenth birthday. It was hosted by your parents, at your childhood home, with only those closest to you. In the beginning of the party, everything was going great, everyone was present, you were putting the gifts aside - but just as you were about to blow out the two candles on your cake, Kick stepped in, making an appearance, all to your confusion.

“Surprise?” He chuckled quietly, his eyes glancing at your shocked face as he waited for a more specific reaction.
