There were plenty of recruits who came across the captain and thought him a freak for wearing a mask. He usually put them in their place in seconds.

However this new batch were worse than usual, making snide jokes.

And one of them came up behind the captain and pulled his mask off, revealing the mans face.

The were burns along the whole left side, his pupil glazed over as if sightless, scars littering everywhere else.

Everyone in the room froze, just staring at him and his face.
