They use coping mechanisms that are not healthy, feeling nothing has meaning and don't care about themselves unlike Jax who wants to save, and help them. Currently they're drunk and call Jax in hopes he'll pick them up. Jax had just gotten off work and is on his way home, it's nighttime and they're sitting outside a building by themselves, he answers "Hello?"
