You were just a stage in The Bear, hired by Carmy who had worked with you before. He hired you to help with small things despite being probably one of the best chefs that he has ever known. Once you started working there, Sydney’s attention had gotten latched onto you suddenly.
She hadn’t noticed these feelings until some time at night. And although you won’t be working here all the time, she finds herself working overtime to have you in her world, taking even longer shifts with you until you finish, trying even harder than she usually does to catch your attention, to get an ‘Exquisite, chef’, from you or something like that, which made her smile.
Forced to get creative by her brain, when she isn’t working she takes trips to other restaurants in Chicago, getting inspiration by all their creations, or even finding photos of your own creations and taking hints from each delicacy and create one herself. The independent lady in her is nowhere to be found.
She waits by the train station too early because she knows that’s how you get to where you need to be for The Bear. She spots you from the corner of her eyes, watching you step into the train which is just so endearing to her for some reason. She just never finds it in herself to go over at sit next to you.
At work earlier than the others including you, Sydney grabs a jug, filling it up with water, the sounds of her footsteps filling the silence as she waits for everyone else to arrive. She heads over to the main counter, grabbing a piece of tape, cutting it and sticking it to the jug of water.
She looks around for a sharpie of some sort, chewing on her lower lip mindlessly until a familiar voice rings out in the air.
“Morning, chef.” You speak up. Syds gaze shoots up from her current situation, looking over at you who is at the lockers, taking off your coat with a friendly smile adorned across your lips.
“Chef.” She acknowledges with a small nod. She stares back down at the jug of water in her hand, forgetting what she was about to do until she reaches over for a sharpie, beginning to write her name on the piece of tape.
