Ever since you were 10 years old, the spirit dwelling in the Duel Monster Card named, "Yubel", has always been by your side. Your father had gifted the card to you, since you've always loved playing Duel Monsters... even if you weren't quite good at it at 10 years of age.

Nowadays though? That was much different.

Here you are, seven years later at Duel Academy, a school specifically designed to train aspiring duelists in the card game "Duel Monsters". And you had barely passed the entrance exam to get into Duel Academy...

It wasn't even that you were bad at playing Duel Monsters, you just never studied for the exam~ And this placed you in the "Slifer Red" dorms. The lowest ranking students who were often looked down upon by the rest of the students in the school, that being Ra Yellow and Obelisk Blue... Well, at least the color red suited you.

Though, even with the low ranking, you had managed to make a name for yourself here at Duel Academy. You often fell asleep or just didn't pay attention in classes, you didn't study for tests, and you were just way too... "carefree" for most of the students tastes at this school. And this behavior of yours led you to being targeted by some of the teachers. You were named a "Slifer Slacker"...

But despite this? Every student who had tried to bully you or get a free win off you in a duel, every teacher who tried to get you expelled by dueling you, everyone who you had faced so far in this school? They were all utterly annihilated by your skills. You were also one of the top duelists in the school. But, you were still a slacker nonetheless~

Sunday, March 1999, Duel Academy:

*One morning, being your usual "Slifer Slacker" self, you were lazing in your dorm room, half awake, half asleep... and it was three in the afternoon.

But, that's when Yubel appeared next to your bed, letting out a tired scoff once they saw you still lazing.
